Pill Reminder App Reviews

Nice but...

I think this is a great app, but if you dont live in front of the machine, it doesnt do much to help you remember. If it had an audio component to alert you, then that would make it fill my requirements.

Not very useful

The app is not very useful since it frequently "freezes" on me and has to be restarted.

Is anyone still out there?

Serious doubts about support and development. Under Sierra the app keeps abending. Currently running latest version (2.7), but it is over 2 years old.

Well worth the price

This App does a wonderful job reminding you to take your pills and you must actively acknowledge that you have taken them. It has a variety of customizeable actions it can do to make sure you don’t miss a signle does. It can track the inventory of your medications and tell you when you are running low so you know when to reorder. I get medication via mail-order and it has always been as issue of me noticing when to reorder a medication. Those days are gone. I trust this software to give me enough notice so I never go a day without medication. The program will track your inventory and you can set how many days or if you even want notification when you are running low. The developer(s) of this application have really thought through everything you could possible need to do with you medication and it keeps a log of when you take your medication so you can easy check if you missed a does (I have mine set to remind me every ten minutes, three times). Really well thought out and execute. I say five stars becase I can set six. Oh, I am running macOS Sierra 10.12.1 and have had no abends at all.

Has potential!!

wish it had an audio chime... also interface could use a little work.. i should mention their excellent customer service... very responsive to ideas.. and a lot of good ideas to come in future updates..

Outstanding

Pill Reminder does precisely what is says it does, performs flawlessly and is extremely easy to use. What else could you ask for! I cound not be any happier with an app! Thank you Pill Reminder!!

Finally!!!

Ive needed this App for Years. Ever since I got my first MAC. Since I share my calendar, I didnt want to put personnel pill reminders in the calendar. This is a significant App for me. Thank you for creating it.

Perfect

This is the PERFECT app for me - thanks! Now when Im trapped at my computer working all day and night I wont forget to take my meds. I also use it as a reminder to get outside at least once a day. :)

Disappointed!

Needs sound to be effective.

Language Support Selection Preference

I live in Japan, and I wish it would allow me to choose English instead of coming up in the default Japanese. The pill box, etc. comes up in Kanji, instead of my preferred MTWTFSS. Thanks!

Okay if you only sit in front of your computer.

Great little app, but without the ability to enter confirmations after the fact when you are away from the computer, the log is useless. Boxes come up in the log into which check marks could be entered, but the app doesnt take them. Good for what it does but needs some extended usefullness for those who dont spend 24 hours a day in front of the computer.

Fantastic!!!

Its easy to use. I love the feature of keeping track of how many pills remain. The user interface is attractive. I used to keep track of my pills in a task management application, and this is much easier. Well worth the $1.99 current price.

Like the new updates

Ive been using this for a while, nice to see they keep it updates. Like Ive said before, it just works, but with the new features allowing you to customize night/day/morning etc (or keeping the simpler interface from before) makes it all the better. Keep up the good work.

Love this app, but it is locking up my machine since Lion??

Is anyone else having this problem? It works okay, but occasionally my machine will start to beach-ball, and when I look, its 90+% CPU being used by Pill Minder!

Good start

Logging a pill taken is easy, 1-2 clicks... except: if you take a pill at bedtime, and bedtime is past midnight, you simply cant mark the pill taken. Speech integration, or at least a custom/distinct alarm would help provide a reminder when youre in the area, but not directly at the computer. Adding pill information is simple and fast since there are only, at most three boxes to fill out (time, frequency, and, if you like, a description). The most frequent dosage option is daily, but you can just add in the pm dose, for example, as another pill. It would be nice to be able to change how many days show up in the pillbox, especially since you cant log previous/future doses anyway. The addition of supply logging would be great for metered dose inhalers, where the patient has to count down from 200 to know how many doses are left, that, however, would require granularities more frequent than daily. Its a bit limited at this stage, but its so easy to use and so inexpensive. Sadly, Ive had to stop using it because of memory leaks since one of the later version 1 updates. The concept is great. The feature set with version 2 is terrific, but it can quickly hog 1 GB of memory and halt my computer. Ive not yet upgraded to Snow Leopard.

Failed Notifications

The only reason I like this app is because it sits in my menu bar and does nothing. Which in turn makes me wonder why its there. Which in turn reminds me to take my pills. It hasnt seemed to work at all ever since I upgraded to Lion.

nicer reminder

Good app. Works well. How ever it doesnt remember from day to day.

Works Well … Settings a Bit Confusing

Heres what happens … at the time you set, the menu icon begins to blink. That all that happens at your set time. Additionally, in Preferences you can tell it to perform an action … sound, alert box, email … some number of minutes later. What this means is that if you want a reminder at 6:00, you have to set the time for 5:59 and then set an action to happen 1 minute later. I think this is a minor problem … the app does have nice tools for tracking your meds history … but it needs a MUCH better "first user" tutorial. I also think the Preferences section needs work … "preferences" are defaults for the app; but it also needs setting for each pill. Lastly, you should be able to specify that alerts should show up in the MacOS notifications panel.

Near Perfect

This is an outstanding app that will remind you to take your meds at the times you specify. You can have the icon on the dock and in the menubar if you want. You can choose any song in your iTunes library to play while the reminder flashes on your screen. You can list all your meds if you need to keep track of what youre currently taking. Theres a high degree of personalization available although it can be just a little bit confusing. Ive been using this app for about a year now and it always works exactly the way its supposed to. It would be great if you could just scan your meds into the app instead of listing them one at a time, but that being said, this app is near perfect.

Pill Minder 2 — Nice Idea, but FREQUENT LOCK-UPS

I have been using this app for about a week and find it very handy (when it works) in reminding me to take my meds at different schedules as many cant be taken at the same time. It allows many more options than Id expected. Its a nice interface and easy to use once past the "learning curve". Id buy it again if not for the major problem described below. This is not ready for "prime-time" and I await a major and much needed upgrade. The biggest problem is FREQUENT LOCKUPS with the "beach ball" spinning interminably. Of course reminders may not be issued when the app is locked up, and important meds could be missed. Sometimes the lockups only go on for several minutes. Other times the app has to be Force-Quit and restarted. Right now its locked up with the "beach ball" showing when hovering over the icon or the sidebar. This time the lock-up is major as the app doesnt show up on the Dock, the Application Switcher (Cmd-Tab), or in the Force-Quit menu. In other words, the app cant be Quit. Im going to have to Restart my Retina MacBook Pro running the latest Mountain Lion to clear this lock-up. (Is it also going to cancel my earlier reminders that I didnt get?) This is Dangerous and Unacceptable! This app needs to be fixed, and soon because taking not taking meds, or not taking them on schedule, can be life-threatening. This app needs to do what it says it will do.
